Set Up:
There are 12-16 players set up on a half field, starting at the cones. To begin the drill, the Feeder plays the ball out to the 1st attacker, running down the line and looking to cross. The 1st defender chases from behind, and the second player in each line supports the play. The two attackers in the penalty area look to finish 2v1 after the ball is crossed. Upon completion, the Feeder re-starts the drill with a pass out to the other flank. During the drill, the players rotate to all of the attacking and defending positions.
Coaching Points:
1. Look for the early cross. The ball does not have to be carried all the way to the end line.
2. Fake the cross (Cruyff, step over) before turning and playing it back to the 2nd attacker.
3. When the 1st attacker turns back, look for the vertical takeover along the sideline.
Progressions:
1. Play 3v2 in the penalty area.
