Three Goal Counter
Three Goal Counter
Set Up:
The teams play 8 v 6 on a large field. The attacking team looks to maintain possession and get shots on goal. The defending team looks to deny the attackers and score on the three small goals set up on the opposite end line when they win possession. On goals and balls put out of play, the GK re-starts the game with the team in possession.
Coaching Points:
1. The 1st defender needs to get to the attacker quickly in order to limit space for the shot.
2. The 2nd defender needs to remain tight enough to the 1st defender, while also remaining close enough to pressure the 2nd attacker if they get the ball.
3. Both the 1st and 2nd defenders should get closer together when they are close to their own goal.
Progressions:
1. Expand the field to half field in length.
